Abstract
People with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including subtypes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis have an increased risk of thrombosis. The objectives of this presentation are to:
1. Review the pathophysiology of thrombosis in IBD;
2. Discuss rates and risk factors of VTEs in people with IBD;
3. Determine indications and safety of VTE prophylaxis in children and adults with IBD
By the end of this presentation, the audience will understand how to approach VTE prophylaxis in patients with IBD, and the unanswered research questions for future consideration.
