THSNA Travel Awards

THSNA Abstract Travel Awards are designed to promote clinical and basic research by Young Investigators, Nurses, Pharmacists, and Medical Technologists.

Additional information:

  • The Travel Award Review Committee will give equal consideration to Hemostasis and Thrombosis submissions, and to clinical science and basic laboratory work; covering four basic tracks: Laboratory, Thrombosis, Hemostasis and Basic Science. 
  • Selection of Travel Award recipients from among applicants will be based on the quality of the submitted abstract. 
  • Only submissions whose first authors are Young Investigators, Nurses, Pharmacists, or Coagulation Medical Technologists are eligible for travel awards.
  • Young Investigators are defined as undergraduate students, medical students, graduate students, resident physicians, post-doctoral fellows (MD or PhD) and young MD or MD/PhD investigators within five years of completing clinical training in hemostasis and/or thrombosis. 
  • To be eligible for a THSNA travel award a Young Investigator, nurse, pharmacists or medical technologist must be the first author and presenter of an abstract accepted for presentation at THSNA 2026. 
  • A total of up to thirty (30) travel awards will be granted.
  • The travel award includes up to $1,000 toward travel and eligible lodging costs (at the conference Hotel) to attend the conference plus complimentary conference registration for first authors of award-winning abstracts.
  • Applications for the travel awards are accepted as part of the abstract submission process and applicants will be notified in January 2026.
  • Please note that awardees will have the opportunity to serve as junior moderators of the short talk sessions.
2026 Terri Schnurr Memorial Nursing Scholarship Application

The 2026 Terri Schnurr Memorial Nursing Scholarship includes a $500 travel stipend to attend the Thrombosis & Hemostasis Summit of North America (THSNA) in-person from March 19-21, 2026 in Portland, Oregon.

The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who best illustrates the desire to further their professional knowledge in the field of antithrombotic therapy.

Eligibility:

  • Nurse (RN), nurse practitioner, or nursing student who is from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group and works in the field of antithrombotic therapy
  • Preference will be given to nurse researchers who demonstrate outstanding dedication to research and exemplary patient care

Additional Information:

  • The travel stipend is to be used to cover transportation and lodging at the conference hotel.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States.
  • Individuals may receive the award only once, as such, prior scholarship recipients are ineligible.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Applicants should not register for the event until after the award notification date. Award notifications will be sent out prior to the early bird registration deadline (November 14, 2025).

ABOUT THE AWARD
Terri Schnurr, RN, CCRC was a dedicated member of the Anticoagulation Forum family for over 10 years. During that time, she served on the Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and was a founding member of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Allyship (IDEA) Initiative.

Terri was a registered nurse and played a pivotal role in the foundation of thrombosis research at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Terri’s enthusiasm for research was evident in her dedication to study recruitment, coordination, and patient education.

A kind and gentle soul, Terri was always ready and willing to help when needed, and eager to contribute to AC Forum DEI initiatives. The Terri Schnurr Memorial Nursing Scholarship will continue Terri’s legacy of giving, caring, and learning.

THSNA Mentoring Award Competition

THSNA is excited to announce that is now accepting applications for a THSNA Mentoring Award competition. This award program provides financial support (up to $3,500 per award) for a mentee from the US, Canada or Mexico to travel and receive intensive mentorship for one week with a pre-selected mentor at a facility anywhere in the US, Canada, or Mexico. Award funds are anticipated to cover hotel/housing, meals (limited to 75 USD per day), air (lowest economy fare) or land transportation, and essential incidental expenses. Receipts will be required to receive the award. Please note the Transportation Reimbursement Policy - Reimbursement for one round-trip, non-refundable, non-upgradable, coach class airline ticket including the following conditions: Tickets in excess of 600 USD require pre-approval. Up to 200 USD reimbursement for ground transportation.

The specific number of awards that will be available will be determined by the funds made available from a combination of allocated gifts from THSNA pharmaceutical partners and Summit Sponsors.
